Turning on the jets
By the late 1990s, Delta Faucet Company (www.deltafuacet.com) had begun to see its market share eroded by brands like Kohler, Moen and Price Pfister. The Home Depot and Lowe's were demanding that Delta move ahead. But when the company's efforts to upgrade the product line failed to impress buyers, Delta executives turned to Proteus for help.
It was clear that Delta needed to add fresh designs to the product mix or face marginalization. Within a matter of months, Proteus developed several hundred new potential faucet design concepts – kitchen, bath, single-handle, double-handle, high-spout, low-spout and more.
Of the designs we initially developed, some 20 eventually entered the market. In the first year of working with Proteus, Delta saw an incremental sales increase of more than $50 million. One of our designs, the Victorian, quickly became the second best seller in the line.
